In July 2020 and February 2021, Broxtowe Borough, Gedling Borough, Nottingham City and Rushcliffe Borough Councils carried out a public consultation on the Greater Nottingham Strategic Plan Growth Options document. This consultation is now closed.
A "Preferred Approach" is now being prepared and will be subject to consultation in Autumn 2022.
Broxtowe Borough, Gedling Borough, Nottingham City and Rushcliffe Borough Councils are currently undertaking a review of the Aligned Core Strategies. This will result in the production of the Greater Nottingham Strategic Plan.
The plan looks at how Greater Nottingham’s longer-term development needs can be met up to 2038 supported by more detailed policies which will be developed in each council’s own individual Local Plan.
Being able to plan for future development needs such as housing and growth is important to the prosperity of local people. Planning for development will also provide a vital stimulus to the local economy, which will help the area recover from the impact of Covid 19, by encouraging investment, which helps to create jobs and supply chain business.
The first stage of the Strategic Plan has been to produce a Growth Options document.
The Growth Options document asked a series of questions on topics including housing growth, employment growth and economic development, climate change and carbon neutrality, city and town centres, the natural environment, urban design, the historic environment, safe and healthy communities, Green Belt and infrastructure provision.
